ABUJA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria is ready to partner with relevant stakeholders in increasing bio-energy production in order to improve the nation's bio- economy, said the country's biotechnoloy development agency on Wednesday.

Such effort was necessary to meet the huge energy need in the country, Alex Akpa, acting director-general of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) said in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.

He made the announcement at a round-table on exploring investment opportunity in biotechnology and bio-energy development.

The director told his audience that the country would intensify effort through biotechnology research and development to boost bio-energy production.

The agency has mandate to promote biotechnology activities in Nigeria, he added, noting that it has its bio-resources development center across 30 states of the federation.
