KHARTOUM, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) --The Sudanese Armed Forces on Thursday concluded ground drills at Shakhout area, north of the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

"Today we are witnessing the end of activities of (Taharqa) Military Exercise in its second edition," said Kamal Abdul-Marouf Al-Mahi, Sudanese army's chief of joint staff, in his address to the troops participating in the exercise.

He said the drills aimed to achieve the capacity for the armed forces to deal with all circumstances.

The closing ceremony of the military exercise was attended by Sudan's Defense Minister Awad Ibn Auf and Chief of Staff of South Sudan Army Gabriel Jok Riak.

Units from the Sudanese army's ground and air forces took part in the drills which lasted about two weeks.
