BERLIN, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Stuttgart have released head coach Tayfun Korkut from all his duties with immediate effect, the "Swabians" confirmed in an official statement on Sunday.

Last placed Stuttgart have drawn their consequences from Saturday's 3-1 loss to Hannover and sacked head coach Korkut and his assistants Ilija Aracic and Steven Cherundolo.

"The lack of a sporting development this season and the negative results have forced us to take this step. Last season, Tayfun Korkut took over the team in a very difficult situation and secured our top flight status," Stuttgart's sporting director Michael Reschke said.

Andreas Hinkel, Matthias Schiffers, Marco Langner and Andreas Schumacher will take reins for the moment until a new head coach will be appointed.

"This decision was very difficult for us. After a pleasing end of the last season we were confident that we could continue positively with Tayfun Korkut into the new season. Unfortunately that was not the case," Stuttgart's club president Wolfgang Dietrich said.

Korkut took the reins in January 2018 and lifted the team from the 14th place on the 7th position. However, current performances left the team on the last place of the Bundesliga standings. Stuttgart had only one win, two draws and four defeats in the current campaign.

The "Swabians" will face front-runners Borussia Dortmund after the international break on October 20.
