NANCHANG, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- A sculpture exhibition with anti-war theme by Diana Williams, an Australian artist based in China, has attracted over 200,000 visitors since its debut on May 18.
The exhibition, entitled Mother's Cry for Peace, was held in the China Ceramic Museum in the southeastern city of Jingdezhen, known as the "ceramics capital" of China.
A total of 42 works displayed the cruelty of war, such as a pregnant lady leaning against a gigantic bomb with a baby crawling on it.
Diana Williams, 64, settled in the city of Jingdezhen 14 years ago to study under Liu Yuanchang, a ceramic art master. She said her ideas for the exhibit were partly inspired by her feelings about Australia's involvement in the Iraq War.
Williams said her works reflect upon the meaning of life and war via a sharp contrast between the lively images of mothers and their babies as well as the horror of war.
"This exhibition is a presentation of what I've learned during the past 14 years and is my gift to the city," she said, adding that she expects to exhibit her works in other cities in China in the following years.
