BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Bullying and suicide issues are increasingly alarming in Brunei, the sultanate's minister of health said in his message on the occasion of World Mental Health Day which falls on Wednesday.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on Oct. 10 every year around the world to highlight and raise awareness on the importance of mental health. The theme this year is "young people and mental health in a changing world."

"For Brunei Darussalam, it is an opportunity to review the measures we have implemented to increase mental health awareness, mobilize resources and support mental health initiatives, and to encourage people in the country to take better care of their mental health," Minister Haji Mohd Isham said.

He added that a mental health aid hotline in Brunei will be established in the near future.

"The Ministry of Health believes that preventive measures, preliminary approaches, fostering resilience, and ensuring that information and services available to the population are the key factors in creating a healthy future for our youth," the minister said.
