YANGON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- CLMVT countries comprising Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam as well as Thailand are seeking to strengthen transport connectivity among them, Myanmar News Agency reported Thursday.
At a workshop held in Yangon over the last two days, attended by experts from these countries plus South Korea and Malaysia, challenges for seamless transport connectivity along coastal routes of the CLMVT countries were discussed.
The workshop was jointly conducted by Myanmar's Ministry of Transport and Communications and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Permanent secretary of the Myanmar ministry U Win Khant said the workshop would benefit Myanmar as the country is weak in trans-border transport connectivity, while the UNESCAP representative said enhancing transport connectivity will also bring benefit due to geographical proximity among CLMVT countries.
Participants agreed to take pragmatic approach with trailer swap method to overcome challenges for seamless transport connectivity.
