Finland's Samooja leads at Hainan Open European Challenge Tour

SANYA, China, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The second day of the 2018 Hainan Open European Challenge Tour witnessed Finnish golfer Kalle Samooja set the pace on Friday at Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club.

With eight birdies, and two bogeys, Samooja scored a total 13-under 131 after two rounds of games, surpassing Scotland's Grant Forrest, who scored a 10-under 134. The latter just broke the record of the least stroke in this tournament with a zero-bogey 10-under 62 in the first round.

Chasing behind are Niklas Lemke of Sweden and Nico Geyger of Chile, tied with a score of 67 this day and a total of 9-under 135 in the first two rounds.

"Yesterday I played well and so is today," said Samooja after the game. "But I think we should focus on the next games, everyday is different and we should play our best."

The 2018 Hainan Open European Challenge Tour, which will run till Oct. 14, is being held in the southern China's costal city of Sanya with an entry of 126 players from 32 countries and regions and a total prize of about 350,000 U.S. dollars.
