RAMALLAH, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Revolutionary Council of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party Sunday recommended dissolving the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), the Palestinian Authority parliament.

Fatah Revolutionary Council, which has been convening in Ramallah for three days, called on the Palestinian Central Council in an official statement to dissolve the PLC and prepare for general elections in the Palestinian territories within a year.

The PLC, with a Hamas overwhelming majority, has been inoperative since the internal Palestinian split started following the Islamic movement's violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007, according to Fatah Revolutionary Council.

The statement accused Hamas movement of disabling the PLC "which has lost its ability to carry out its legislative and supervisory missions."

The Palestinian Central Council is the second highest official Palestinian establishment after the Palestinian National Council (PNC).

The Central Council is scheduled to convene in Ramallah on Oct. 28. The council last time convened in January without the participation of both Hamas and the Islamic Jihad.

Earlier, senior Palestinian officials affirmed that the council intended to take decisive and crucial decisions to treat the internal Palestinian crisis that was an outcome of the feuds with Hamas.
