Spanish Ibex-35 stock exchange rises sharply to recover 9,000 point mark

MADRID, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Ibex-35 saw a 1.69 percent rise on Tuesday to recover the 9,000 point mark.

Trading in Madrid opened at 8,923.70 points and closed at 9,074.70; slightly below the day's maximum of 9,096.80 points, following the biggest daily gains the Ibex-35 has seen in four months.

The most successful values on Tuesday were property company, Inmobiliaria Colonial Socimi, whose shares rose by 5.31 percent. This was followed by infrastructure company, Ferrovial with a 4.9 percent increase in share values and energy company Endesa, which saw a 3.55 percent increase in values.

Only three companies suffered a drop in share prices with supermarket chain, Dia's recent problems continuing as shares lost 8.80 percent of their value.

There was also a small 0.94 percent fall in the shares of Bankia, while telecommunications giant, Telefonica had 0.18 percent knocked off its shares. Enditem
