French shares gain 1.53 pct on Tuesday

PARIS, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 1.53 percent, or 77.98 points, to close at 5,173.05 points.

Among the 40 selected large companies, 38 gained in the day.

French aviation group Safran gained 4.14 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. French digital design company Dassault Systemes rose 4.03 percent, followed by European aviation giant Airbus which gained 4.00 percent.

French retail group Carrefour went down by 2.17 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French financial group AXA lost 0.29 percent. Enditem
