VIENNA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Former Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern became the president of the newly-established board of trustees for the Austrian Chinese Business Association (ACBA), the Austria Press Agency reported on Thursday.
Kern, who served as chancellor under the Social Democrats from May 2016 until December 2017, will take on the part-time role as his first undertaking since announcing his departure from politics earlier in the month.
The board of trustees convenes twice a year, and also counts among its members Minister for Transport Norbert Hofer, who also functions as Vice-President of the board, while Minister of Economy Margarete Schrambock will likely also join.
In addition, numerous other high-profile personalities from business, political, and academic backgrounds are part of the board.
The association, established in 2010, lists its aims as promoting economic and trade relations between entrepreneurs of both countries, the mutual exchange of information, and provision of assistance in building business relationships and for concrete projects.
