MADRID, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona moved to the top of the Liga Santander on Saturday night thanks to a 4-2 win at home to Sevilla.

Sevilla traveled to the Camp Nou as league leaders, but had lost their last six league visits to Barca's home ground and were 2-0 down after just 13 minutes after Phillipe Coutinho and Leo Messi scored for Barca.

Messi was forced out of the game with an elbow injury midway through the first half, but Luis Suarez made it 3-0 just after the hour from the penalty spot.

Pablo Sarabia pulled a goal back for Sevilla with 11 minutes to go, before Ivan Rakitic and Luis Muriel rounded off the scoring to give Barca their first win in five league matches.

Julen Lopetegui's future as Real Madrid coach hangs by a thread after his side continued their dreadful run of form with a 2-1 defeat at home to Levante.

Although Marcelo's 72nd minute goal ended a 481 minutes without a goal, it was not enough to save the game for Madrid who had fallen 2-0 behind in just 13 minutes thanks to goals from Jose Luis Morales and a Roger Marti penalty.

The Madrid coach could point to bad luck after his side had two goals ruled out for offside and hit the woodwork on three occasions, while Levante goalkeeper Oier, saved almost everything the Madrid forwards could throw at him, but with a trip to face Barcelona next weekend, it will be a tense week in the offices of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Atletico Madrid failed to take full advantage of their neighbors' slip up as they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Villarreal.

Felipe Luis' header put Atletico ahead in the 51st minute against a side they have now failed to beat in their last seven meetings, but Villarreal right back Mario Gaspar equalized with 25 minutes remaining.

Valencia remain without a home win this season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leganes.

Gerard Gumbau put Leganes ahead with a 65th minute penalty, but Jose Gaya's deflected shot saved a point for the home side with five minutes left to play.

Friday night saw Alaves win 1-0 away to Celta Vigo with Tomas Pina's late goal and the side from Vitoria are currently second in the table.
