ALGIERS, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, on Sunday here hailed "positive developments" in bilateral relations with Algeria.

"We are proud of (our relations) and want them to move forward," Ahmed told reporters after the talks he held with his Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Messahel, part of a two-day visit to Algeria.

"This new dynamic in our bilateral relations is displayed at the Fair of Algerian Products that the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott is due to host on Tuesday," the Mauritanian top diplomat noted.

This economic meeting will be attended by some 170 Algerian companies, he specified, noting that the volume of trade exchange between Algeria and Mauritania is still far from the expectation and potential of the two North African nations.

Algeria and Mauritania have shown their will to boost economic partnership through the inauguration of the first ever border crossing between them.
