NAIROBI, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- A consortium of Chinese companies operating in Kenya will hold an inaugural career fair day in Nairobi next week in an effort to attract future employees and build relationships with the Kenyan youth and Chinese companies.

The day-long event to be held on Monday will be held under the auspices of the umbrella body of Kenya-China Economic and Trade Association (KCETA) and with the support from the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.

According to the organizers, the career fair will attract some 50 Chinese companies based in Kenya who will showcase their businesses and share available job opportunities with the aim of finding employees with the set skills.

The KCETA said in a statement that as a crucial player in the country, the association is on a mission to build sustainable businesses in Kenya, adding that this was only possible by employing local staff and working together with their local partners.

"We want to create more job opportunities, especially to the youth who have just graduated and for those with work experience, provide them with career opportunities, and enable them to apply the skills they learnt in school," the statement said.

Some of the leading companies expected to showcase their businesses include Power Construction Corporation of China, China Road and Bridge Corporation, China Overseas Engineering, China Wuyi, Huawei Kenya and AVIC International.

Among the delegates invited to attend the fair are cabinet ministers, Chinese embassy officials, as well as chief executive officers and human resource directors of local Chinese companies.

Hundreds of posts will be provided by Chinese companies from various industries who will set up booths on site to make detailed presentations about their firms regarding what they are doing in Kenya and what job opportunities they have available.

The executives of the companies will also conduct on-site interviews for job seekers to help boost local employment.

The KCETA is a non-profit organization with a membership of 97 companies whose mission is to explore business cooperation between the two nations, enhance cultural exchanges while actively shouldering corporate social responsibilities to promote community cohesion.
