MOSCOW, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said Friday it had detained six individuals in the Moscow region suspected of plotting "headline making" terrorist attacks in the capital.
It said in a statement that the detainees were suspected of being members of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and that their activities were led by natives in Syria.
During the searches, the FSB seized automatic firearms, communication devices with reports on the preparation of terrorist attacks and instructions for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, the statement said.
The investigation of the activities of the group continues, it added.
According to an official transcript, the FSB have prevented 26 crimes of terrorist nature, including 15 terrorist attacks, in the first nine months of this year.
