Afghan suicide car bomb kills 6, wounds 12 in eastern Wardak province

MAIDAN SHAR, Afghanistan, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least six people have been confirmed dead and 12 others injured as a suicide car bomb shocked Maidan Shar, the capital of eastern Wardak province 35 km west of Kabul on Saturday, provincial government spokesman Abdul Rahman Mangal said.

"The terrorists organized a suicide car bomb next to the repairing center of police vehicles at around 08:00 a.m. local time today, leaving six people dead and injuring 12 others," Mangal told Xinhua.

However, the official avoided providing more details, saying investigation is underway.

Meantime, another official on the condition of anonymity asserted that the casualties may go up as it was morning rush hour.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility yet. The armed Taliban outfit which is active in the restive Wardak province has yet to make a comment.
