BRASILIA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's president-elect Jair Bolsonaro on Thursday said the defense ministry will be one of the "superministries" in his administration.

Bolsonaro, who is scheduled to take office on Jan. 1, 2019, chose Augusto Heleno, a tired general of the Brazilian army, to be the defense minister in his administration.

The president-elect emphasized the role of the armed forces in Brazil's national policy during a press conference.

The other two "superministries" will be the economy ministry headed by economist and banker Paulo Guedes and the justice ministry led by judge Sergio Moro.

The economy ministry will combine the current ministries of finance, planning, industry and commerce.

Bolsonaro said that his government will comprise up to 17 ministries.

He also reaffirmed his economic commitments, including inflation control and pension reform.
