Actor Alec Baldwin arrested in New York after parking spot fight

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- American actor Alec Baldwin was arrested in New York City Friday afternoon after a fight over a parking spot in downtown Manhattan.

A police source confirmed to Xinhua that Baldwin, who allegedly punched an adult man during the fight around 1:30 p.m. local time on Friday, will be charged with assault and harassment.

The Hollywood star is currently under custody and will be allowed to go home today after being processed, said the source.

The man he fought with sustained injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital.

Baldwin, 60, has been impersonating U.S. President Donald Trump for around two years on the "Saturday Night Live," a popular late-night variety show produced by the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) studios.

When asked about the issue at a White House Press Briefing minutes after the news broke on Friday, Trump said "I wish him (Baldwin) luck," NBC reported.
