Shandong have season-high 17 3-pointers to edge Sichuan in CBA

BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Shandong hit a season-high 17 3-pointers to beat Sichuan 103-97 in the 7th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Saturday night.

Andrew Goudelock earned 10 points off the bench for visitors Shandong, but Sichuan still took a lead 30-27 after local forward Chen chen hit a tough buzzer in the first quarter. Donatas Motiejunas and Wu Nan launched a 8-0 run to help Shandong outscore Sichuan 48-45 in halftime.

Veteran Zhang Qingpeng shot five 3-pointers for Shandong after the break to see Shandong maintain their hot hands to clinch the victory.

Goudelock and Motiejunas had 25 points each. Zhang Qingpeng got 24 points including six 3-pointers. Jamal Franklin added 37 points for Sichuan.

Brandon Bass, the former Los Angeles Clippers forward, had 17 of his 26 points in the second quarter and defending champions Liaoning managed a 11-2 run to put away Bayi 48-28 at halftime. Liaoning went on a 15-2 run to stretch their lead to 68-38 and sealed a 90-59 easy win over Bayi.

Star guard Guo Ailun had 14 points and six rebounds and Cong Mingchen added 13 points for Liaoning.

Wu Qian, Marcus Denmon and Tyler Hansbrough combined 89 points to help Zhejiang beat Fujian 122-114. Chinese national team center Wang Zhelin had a team-high 32 points and 12 rebounds for Fujian.

The misery remained for Qingdao as the team dropped sixth straight games after a road 93-101 defeat to Tianjin. Shi Deshuai had 23 points and 15 rebounds for Tianjin. Qingdao guard Jonathan Gibson contributed 37 points.
