Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Dow's rise, robust domestic earnings

TOKYO, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as the Dow Jones Industrial Average's overnight rise prompted buying with solid Japanese earnings contributing to an upbeat mood as the U.S gears up for midterm elections.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 222.82 points, or 1.02 percent, from Monday to 22,121.81.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 17.64 points, or 1.08 percent, at 1,658.03.

Oil and coal product, iron and steel, and pharmaceutical-linked issues comprised notable gainers by the morning break.
