TOKYO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as a comparatively weaker yen versus the U.S. dollar gave exporters a lift, while Wall Street's overnight rise added to a positive tone.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 461.66 points, or 2.09 percent, from Wednesday to 22,547.46.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 29.78 points, or 1.80 percent, at 1,682.21.

Mining, oil and coal product, and miscellaneous product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
