SHANGHAI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese partners are being sought for 70 investment projects in Britain, it was announced Thursday at an investment promotion meeting.

Announced at the 6th CBBC (China-Britain Business Council) China Outbound Conference held in Shanghai, the projects range from communications technology, renewable energy and life science to advanced manufacturing, e-commerce and financial services.

"The UK remains an extremely attractive destination for Chinese companies to invest and do business in," said Lord Sassoon, Chairman of the China-Britain Business Council.

China's foreign direct investment in Britain doubled last year to 20.8 billion U.S. dollars, whose focus is shifting from infrastructure and real estate to technology, innovation and the service industry, according to Sassoon.

"The prospect of the new Shanghai-London Stock Connect will further strengthen ties by enabling direct equity trading between the two countries. The Belt and Road Initiative is another important area where UK-China collaboration continues to deepen," said Sassoon.

The relationship between Britain and China is stronger than ever, he said.
