TOKYO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning as buying on the back of firms' robust domestic earnings and outlook reports gave way to investors opting to secure gains made after the Nikkei's rally a day earlier.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 148.66 points, or 0.66 percent, from Thursday to 22,338.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 2.90 points, or 0.17 percent, at 1,678.35.

Oil and coal product, mining and nonferrous metal-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
