BANJUL, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- New Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of The Gambia Ma Jianchun promised to continue strengthening trust and cooperation with the West African country while presenting his letter of credence to the country's Foreign Affairs Minister Mamadou Tangara on Monday.

"China will work with The Gambia in order to implement the agreements at the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation summit held earlier this year in Beijing," he assured the minister.

The Chinese diplomate said the embassy in Banjul will continue to strengthen trust and cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Tangara, for his part, welcomed the new Chinese Ambassador and extended the appreciation of the Gambian people to China.

"I assure you the Gambian government's recognition of the One-China Policy," he reaffirmed.
