Macao to spend 2.32 bln USD on public subsidies next year: chief executive

MACAO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chief Executive of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chui Sai On said here Thursday that the SAR government will spend 18.75 billion patacas (2.32 billion U.S. dollars) on public subsidies next year.

Chui made the announcement in the Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2019 at the Legislative Assembly.

He said the SAR government will continue the Wealth Partaking Scheme, which offers 10,000 patacas (1245.25 U.S. dollars) annually to each permanent resident and 6,000 patacas (747.15 U.S. dollars) for each non-permanent resident.

It will also offer medical coupons worth of 600 patacas (74.71 U.S. dollars) for each permanent resident and subsidies worthy of 5,260 patacas (655 U.S. dollars) for each new-born, he added.

The SAR government will also continue to offer public subsidies for elderly, disadvantaged families, low-income full-time employees and those who need help, Chui said.
