AMMAN, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Iraq on Thursday agreed to further boost cooperation, especially in the economic fields.
In talks in capital Amman, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of investment, transport and commerce.
The king stressed the need to proceed joint economic projects, especially the oil pipeline between Iraq's Basra and Jordan's Aqaba.
Such projects also include renovating roads between Amman and Baghdad, and creating an industrial zone at the border.
The Iraqi leader stressed his country's keenness to implement such joint projects, saying that the oil pipeline is a strategic project for Iraq.
He also urged the Jordanian companies to benefit from investment opportunities in Iraq.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah II called for creating the necessary environment to facilitate the exchange of visits and entry of Jordanian products into Iraq.
The two sides vowed to enhance ties in other crucial areas like tourism, urging continued cooperation and consultation.
Referring to regional issues, the king also called for continued efforts at the regional and international levels to fight terrorism.
On Syria, the two leaders underlined the importance of a political solution to the situation in Syria to preserve its unity and territorial integrity.
