BUCHAREST, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Thursday expressed her disappointment with the conclusions of the European Commission report regarding the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM), complaining about the double standards imposed by the European authorities.

"I am disappointed with the conclusions of the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism report, taking into account that Romania proved to be a loyal and fair partner of the European Union," the prime minister told the government sitting, adding that "the Government has always been in touch with experts of the European Commission and provided clarifications every time, as well as arguments. Unfortunately, I noticed that these were simply ignored".

This is the first formal statement of the Romanian prime minister after the European Commission issued highly critical CVM report for Romania on Tuesday.

Dancila categorically stated that "we cannot agree with the setting of some additional recommendations requiring us to ignore the constitutional rules and accept what no other member state would accept."

Complaining about double standards used by the relevant European institution, the prime minister requested "equal treatment" for her country and people.

Referring to the resolution adopted also on Tuesday by the European Parliament against Romania, Dancila believed the resolution is "the expression of some electoral interests of European political groups".

The European Commission adopted on Tuesday its latest report on developments in Romania to meet its commitments on judicial reform and the fight against corruption, urging the country to fully enforce all the European Commission's recommendations.

"We are able to prove to our European partners that Romania is a balanced, responsible member state, determined to contribute to the formation of the future of the European Union, regardless of the purely political approaches at one time or another," said the prime minister.
