TIRANA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Albanian government on Wednesday launched a campaign for no violence against women and domestic violence under the slogan "Orange the world! Hear me too".

Albanian Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, said in a meeting with the National Council on Gender Equality that the increasing number of cases reporting violence against women is a proof of the confidence in state institutions.

According to Manastirliu, in the first 10 months of 2018, there were a total of 4,182 violence referrals, of which 2500 were lawsuits.

"Increase of reported gender-based violence cases is further proof of increased confidence in state structures but also of our responsibility to act swiftly and make the voice of any woman heard," Manastirliu said.

Manastirliu said that mechanisms for handling the gender-based violence cases have been set up in 39 municipalities in Albania and 10 others are to be set up in 2019.
