15 killed, many others injured as bus falls into canal in India

NEW DELHI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least 15 people were killed and many others injured on Saturday after a bus carrying them fell into a canal in southern Indian state of Karnataka, police said.

The accident took place in Mandya district, about 105 km west of Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka.

"This afternoon a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a canal here," a senior police official told Xinhua. "Fifteen people were killed in the accident and many are injured."

According to the police, the death toll is likely to increase in the accident.
