TRIPOLI, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Libyan navy announced on Sunday that it had received a new Italian-made vessel to support its efforts against illegal activities in the Mediterranean.

The new boat, Ubari, measuring 27 meters long and seven meters wide, arrived at port of the capital Tripoli on Saturday, the navy said in a statement.

Last month, the Libyan navy received a similar vessel from Italy, as part of the Italian support to the Libyan Coast Guard's efforts against illegal activities in Libya's maritime waters, under the Treaty on Friendship, Partnership and Cooperation signed between the two countries in 2008, according to the statement.

The Libyan navy is expected to receive 10 speed boats in the near future, which will be used in intervention and law enforcement operations off the Libyan coast.
