Spain's home mortgages rises by 9.5 pct in September

MADRID, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The number of home mortgages granted to prospective buyers rose by 9.5 percent in September when compared with the same month of a year earlier, Spain's Statistical Office (INE) reported on Friday.

A total of 32,457 home mortgages were granted in the September this year.

The average value per mortgage rose by 4.1 percent in September year-on-year to 127,732 euros (144,590 U.S. dollars) and the amount of capital loaned rose by 14 percent year-on-year to 4.15 billion euros.

Spain's home mortgages have been rising for six consecutive months year-on-year, while on a month-to-month basis, the country's home mortgages rose by 12.9 percent.

The amount of capital loaned increased by 17.8 percent on a month-to-month basis, the INE said.

Spain's central region of Madrid registered the largest number of home mortgages with 6,530, followed by southern region of Andalusia (6,282) and northeastern region of Catalonia (5,246). Enditem (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars)
