PARIS, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Fresh from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Player of the Year award, Chinese footballer Wang Shuang still wants to move forward step by step, just like what she said at the AFC awarding ceremony, "this is just the beginning."

"As for the future, I still have to march on step by step towards my goals," Wang told Xinhua on Friday after coming back from the ceremony in Oman. She received congratulations from her head coach and teammates at the training ground of her French club Paris Saint-Germain.

"I felt nervous and happy when I heard my name for the award. I had thought that I might win the award, but I was not quite sure if my achievements at the Asian Cup, Asian Games and after joining PSG could earn recognition from the AFC," admitted Wang.

Wang became the fourth Chinese footballer to win the award after Sun Wen, Bai Jie and Ma Xiaoxu.

"It was not the same emotion compared with that when I heard about my nomination. I had been quite relaxed and just thought about attending the ceremony and feeling the atmosphere then," Wang said.

"I think the award just arrives at the right time, and it's a huge boost not just for me but the whole Chinese team. Everyone of us feels confident in playing well at next year's World Cup in France," she added.

For Wang, she needs to keep her mindset as stable as she can after receiving the award.

"Since I have been back to the club, I need to prepare well for tomorrow's match. I have many missions ahead in both national team and club.

"I've got a lot this year. I need to cherish everything that I've achieved and my career," she said.

PSG will host Soyaux-Charente in Saturday's league match.
