SARAJEVO, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Members of Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH's) Border Police seized some 200 kilograms of cannabis drug, known as skunk, on Wednesday in the borderline Bileca, 180 kilometers southeast of capital Sarajevo.
Four nationals of neighboring Montenegro attempted to smuggle drugs in three vehicles, BiH Border Police official website stated on Wednesday.
The drug was discovered in several places in the vehicle of Mercedes brand with BiH plates, BiH Border Police said, adding that two other vehicles had Montenegrin plates.
Director of BiH Border Police Zoran Galic said that the quantities of narcotic drugs seized exceed the statistics from previous years.
"During the nine months of 2018, members of BiH Border Police recorded 68 criminal offenses involving narcotic drugs, for which 75 persons were reported," Galic said, adding that the activities on preventing illicit traffic in drugs and other forms of cross-border crime, will be the priority in the forthcoming period.
Suspects will be transferred to the acting prosecutor who will, after questioning, make a decision on further activities in the case.
BiH, along with other Balkan countries, lies on the route of international drug trafficking linking Western Europe and Asia.
