TEHRAN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and 28 others were injured in an attack in the southeast Iran city of Chabahar on Thursday morning, official IRNA news agency said.

The injured people have been transferred to Chabahar hospitals, Mohammad Reza Naseh, a local medical emergency official, was quoted as saying.

Three of the inured are in critical condition, said the report.

The two victims of the attack were the security personnel at the police headquarters.

Earlier on Thursday, Rahmdel Bameri, governor of Chabahar city, said that three people had been killed in the incident.

The terrorists targeted the police headquarters in Chabahar by a car loaded with explosives, Bameri told IRNA.

The car was trying to enter the police station, but it was stopped by the security guards and the suicide attacker blasted the car at the gate of the station, he said.

Local reports also said shooting sounds were heard at the site of the explosion.

Nobody or no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, bordering Pakistan, has been the scene of deadly clashes between the Iranian security forces and the militant groups over the past years.

On Oct. 16, 14 Iranian servicemen were kidnapped by an armed group in Mirjaveh border point in the country's southeast and were transferred to Pakistan soil. On Nov. 22, five of the abducted guards were freed and returned Iran.
