1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close mixed Friday

BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks ended mixed on Friday, with stocks related to biomedical industry and medical appliances leading the decline.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.03 percent to 2,605.89 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index dipped 0.01 percent to close at 7,733.89 points.

Trading remained thin, with the daily combined turnover on the two bourses standing at 240.89 billion yuan (about 35 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 310.9 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Shares of biomedical industry and medical appliances lost the most, with the sub-indexes falling 2.72 percent and 1.44 percent, respectively.

Huadong Medicine Co., Ltd., a Hangzhou-based medical company, declined by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 29.88 yuan, while Blue Sail Medical Co., Ltd. lost 7.9 percent to end at 16.2 yuan.

Bucking the downward trend, plastics companies showed strong performances, with Jiangsu Dewei Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. rising 4.8 percent to 3.49 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.35 percent to close at 1,341.02 points.
