Philippine Mindanao to host 11th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Midanao of the Philippines will be the host for the 11th edition of Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines-Northern Territory East Asian Growth Area (BIMPNT-EAGA) Friendship Games in 2020.

According to local daily the Borneo Bulletin on Friday, the Philippines was suggested to play the host of the Games and representatives from the Philippines confirmed it during a recent BIMPNT-EAGA Sports Council meeting held at Brunei's Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

Charles Raymond Maxey, the Commissioner of Philippine Sports Commission said that they looked forward to welcoming the participants to Davao City in two years' time.

Brunei is currently hosting the 10th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games from 7 to 9 December, which are aimed at strengthening friendship among BIMPNT-EAGA members and athletes in the direction of unity, understanding and cooperation. Held in rotation between the four BIMP-EAGA member countries, the Games were last held in Indonesia in December 2016.
