PARIS, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Agents of the regional customs administration in Caen, northwestern France, have seized 1,662 kg of cocaine in the commercial port of Caen, the French Ministry of Public Action and Accounts said Monday in a statement.

According to the statement, the cocaine, packaged in packs of about one kilo, was concealed in a container from Brazil. The market value of the drug seized on Dec. 6 is estimated to be more than 70 million euros (about 79.83 million dollars) at wholesale price and before being cut.

The branch of the Judicial Police of Caen has been charged with the investigation of the leaders of organized gangs of the drug, its transportation and possession, as well as criminal conspiracy, to prepare these offenses.

French Minister of Action and Public Accounts Gerald Darmanin said this exceptional seizure of cocaine is the largest by the customs on the national territory for the past 10 years.
