WASHINGTON, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former world number one Andy Roddick of the United States will be playing an exhibition match at the New York Open next February, the event organizers confirmed on Wednesday.

Roddick will play fellow tennis legend Jim Courier on Feb. 9 in an exhibition match to start the New York Open, which is slated for Feb. 9-17.

Wimbledon finalist and defending champion Kevin Anderson and top American John Isner will headline the field and Roddick said the event can help players prepare for big events in Indian Wells and Miami in March.

The event had been based in Memphis, Tennessee, but it was moved to New York two years ago.
