TRIPOLI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The EU Delegation to Libya on Thursday expressed concerns over the security and socio-economic situation in southern Libya.
"The Delegation of the European Union and the EU Heads of Mission to Libya express their deep concern about the current security and socio-economic situation in the south of the country," the EU delegation said in a statement.
It condemned the recent Islamic State (IS) execution of six hostages kidnapped in October in southern Libya, while expressing concern about the forced closure of a major oil field in southern Libya by armed group a few days ago.
"Recognizing the difficult circumstances in the South, the EU is assisting municipalities and civil society in addressing the needs of local communities," the statement said.
