Canadian stock market continues down Wednesday

TORONTO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Canadian main stock market continued down Wednesday for a second day due to pessimism over annual inflation.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index fell 152.83 points, or 1.06 percent, to finish the day at 14,264.06 points.

The Canadian dollar traded at an average of 0.7435 U.S. dollar compared with an average of 0.7463 U.S. dollar Tuesday.

On the market, 61 issues rose and 182 fell. There were 4 new highs and 30 new lows, with a total volume of 370 million shares.

The energy group fell 0.18 point, or 0.13 percent while the financials sector slipped 3.26 points, or 1.19 percent.

The most heavily traded shares by volume were Bombardier Inc., Enbridge Inc. and Baytex Energy Corp.

Bombardier Inc. fell 6 cents to 1.87 Canadian dollars on 22.5 million shares. Enbridge Inc. rose 2.56 percent to 42.44 Canadian dollars on 19.7 million shares. Baytex Energy Corp. added 17 cents to 2.17 Canadian dollars on 11 million shares. Enditem
