TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Intelligence Ministry on Thursday rejected the claim of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israeli agents routinely visit Iran for spying on its nuclear program as "delusional," Press TV reported.

Such "delusional remarks" are merely meant to ease the pressures on Netanyahu over recent revelations about Iran's successful infiltration into Israel's espionage services, the ministry was quoted as saying.

On Sunday, Netanyahu said Israeli spies have been working "all over the world in regards to Iran's nuclear program."

"We also visit there (Iran) periodically ... to catch up," he added.

Netanyahu "has come under the most intense internal and foreign pressures due to the leaks about an Israeli minister spying for Iran as well as the large-scale infiltration into the Zionist regime's intelligence services by those of the Islamic Republic of Iran," an unnamed Iranian Intelligence Ministry official was also quoted as saying by the Press TV.

The Iranian official was referring to the arrest in June of former Israeli Energy Minister Gonen Segev on charges of spying for Iran, giving the Islamic republic information about Israel's energy sector, security sites and the identity of officials in the security and political establishments, among other things.

Netanyahu recently ordered Israel's so-called Security Agency to check on all political, parliamentary and intelligence officials for possible contacts with Iranian intelligence services, he said.

"This order is indicative of the realities that do not need explanations," the official was quoted as saying by Press TV.
