Top political advisory body to hold standing committee meeting in February

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, will convene the fifth meeting of its standing committee on Feb. 27-28, 2019 in Beijing.

The decision was made Monday at the 14th chairman and vice chairpersons' meeting of the 13th CPPCC National Committee presided over by Wang Yang, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, according to a statement issued after the meeting.

At the meeting, the chairman and vice chairpersons studied the results of the annual Central Economic Work Conference, which was held on Dec. 19 to 21 in Beijing.

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the Central Economic Work Conference had made a comprehensive plan for the economic work in 2019, and the CPPCC must study and implement the spirit of the conference.

"The CPPCC shall pool wisdom and unite power from all fronts to make contributions to the economic work next year," Wang stressed.

Monday's meeting reviewed and approved in principle the consultation plan for 2019 and the agenda of the bi-weekly consultation sessions and online consultation sessions of the national committee in 2019.

The meeting also heard a report on the CPPCC National Committee's handling of key proposals in 2018.
