CHICAGO, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures started steady to higher on the first session of 2019 on Wednesday, with an eye on top soybean buyer China and South American weather.
Both China and the United States have stressed the progress made so far in their trade talks. However, the partial shutdown of the U.S. government has made it difficult for CBOT traders to follow official export sales reports, particularly soybean sales to China.
Drier weather forecasts for Brazil, the leading South American soybean producer, also supported CBOT futures, said market watchers.
As of 1634 GMT, soybeans for March delivery were up 11.25 cents to 9.0625 U.S. dollars per bushel. March wheat was up 5 cents at 5.0825 dollars per bushel. March corn was up 1 cent at 3.76 dollars per bushel. Enditem
