SINGAPORE, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.54 percent or 46.35 points to close at 3059.23.
A total of 1.29 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 900.18 million Singapore dollars (about 660.94 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 264 to 142.
The STI index went down 0.86 percent or 26.01 points to close at 3012.88 on Thursday.
