MADRID, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Deportivo Alaves fought back after conceding an early goal to beat Valencia 2-1 and move into fourth place in the Liga Santander on Saturday.

Although Dani Parejo opened the scoring with a well-taken free kick for Valencia after 14 minutes, his side's lead lasted just 7 minutes before Borja Baston scrambled the ball home for the equalizer after a series of rebounds.

Tomas Pina scored what turned out to be the winning goal on the stroke of halftime to leave Alaves unbeaten at home this season and give the Basque club their best ever first half to a top-flight season with one game still to play until the halfway point of the campaign.

Goals in the 73rd and 79th minute saw bottom of the table Huesca come back from a goal down to claim their first home win of the campaign as the defeated Betis 2-1.

Things looked to be going to plan for Betis after Antonio Sanabria's 55th minute penalty for the visitors, but David Ferreiro leveled the scores in the 73rd minute and Cristian Rivera's volley from the edge of the area sent the home fans into raptures.

Alvaro Medran's first minute goal was enough to give Rayo Vallecano a 1-0 away to Valladolid and the Madrid based club's first away win of the campaign lifts them level on points with Athletic Club Bilbao, who play away to Celta Vigo on Monday.

Friday night saw Borja Iglesias score a ninth minute goal which gave Espanyol a 1-0 win at home to Leganes and ended a 6-game losing streak, which was the worst in the club's history.

Friday also saw Levante twice battle back to claim a 2-2 draw at home to Girona.

Portu opened the scoring for the visitors in the 31st minute, but Jose Luis Morales scored a solo goal to level the score in early in the second half.

Things took a negative turn for Levante when Sergio Postigo was sent off for a second yellow card in the 68th minute and got even worse when Aleix Garcia restored Girona's lead with a free kick shortly afterwards. However, Levante refused to accept defeat and Tono scrambled home the equalizing goal from close range with just four minutes remaining.

Sunday sees league leaders, FC Barcelona visit Getafe, while Real Madrid entertain Real Sociedad.
