DHAKA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of garment workers staged demonstrations to demand wage hike for the third consecutive day on Tuesday in key apparel hubs on the outskirts of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka.
Dozens of workers and policemen were reportedly injured as some laborers clashed with the law enforcers in the industrial hubs in Ashiila and Savar outside the capital city.
In Dhaka, hundreds of workers on Tuesday tried to block the major Airport Road where on Sunday workers set fire on a bus.
Law enforcers have been deployed as workers continued demonstrations since Sunday for an increase in the minimum wage and a set of other demands.
Sources said the authorities of dozens of factories in Dhaka and in the apparel hubs on the outskirts of the capital city suspended their production for Monday fearing violence.
