BANGKOK, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) - A group of Belarusian and Russian nationals are being pressed for prompt deportation from Thailand after they had committed a sexual obscenity in Pattaya last year, said a police general on Wednesday.
The unidentified Europeans, including five Belarusians and three Russians, had been found guilty by court of engaging in group sex at a Pattaya hotel and obliged to pay 100,000 baht (about 3,030 U.S. dollars) in fine, according to Immigration Bureau Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachate Hakparn.
The Pattaya court has also sentenced the orgiastic perpetrators to one year and a half in jail but the verdict has been suspended, the commissioner said.
Nevertheless, Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachate held talks with officials of the Belarusian and Russian embassies in Bangkok on Wednesday in a bid to press for the deportation of those foreigners from Thailand.
They have been blacklisted and will be strictly prohibited from re-entering this country, he said.
