DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Minister for Home Affairs Kangi Lugola on Wednesday announced the suspension of three senior police officers allegedly for their failure to fight corruption in the police force.

Lugola said the suspended officers were Regional Police Commanders of Temeke, Ilala and Arusha.

He said he has nullified the appointments of the three regional police commanders effective Wednesday on account of their failure to fight corruption within the police force.

"I decided to suspend them after a thorough analysis of their performance," Lugola told a news conference in the capital Dodoma.

He added that some regional police commanders have been reluctant to implement his directives.
