TOKYO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following Wall Street's solid overnight lead.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 123.54 points, or 0.61 percent, from Thursday to 20,525.81.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 8.77 points, or 0.57 percent, at 1,551.97.
Marine transportation, construction and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
