Casualties feared as blast targets governor motorcade in Afghanistan's Logar province

PUL-E-ALAM, Afghanistan, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Casualties were feared as a roadside bomb targeted the motorcade of Mohammad Anwar Ishaqzai the governor of eastern Logar province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Shahpor Ahmadzai said.

"The blast against governor's motorcade occurred in Safid Sang area at 1:00 a.m. local time today, the governor has fortunately escaped unhurt but his bodyguards were harmed," Ahmadzai told Xinhua.

Investigation has been initiated and more details would be made public, the official added.
